When Chris first invited Pete and me to come work out with him and do
this thing called "Cross Fit" I didn't have much of an interest. Pete
went one Saturday and came back full of aches, sore muscles and
complaints about how hard it was. So, when I decided to accompany him
for the first time it was with great trepidation. The first few
workouts seemed impossibly hard, too difficult for me to do. Even the

I had swam competitively since I was 10; for club, high school, and D1
college programs. Therefore I had developed a certain sense of "gee, I
know how to workout, work hard, strength train", which is exactly what

lingered in my mind for days. I began to think of all the real reasons that
were holding me back from doing a program that I heard brought the best
physical fitness out of everyone. But to understand my reasons, you must
understand my experiences as a swimmer.
